Fitzsimmons Dance Factory
In 1985, founder and owner Lauri Meyer Lucas, with co –director and long time friend Cindy Coffey Post, initiated the Fitzsimmons Dance Factory. The FDF’s original mission and vision to provide a quality multi – discipline studio based on national dance standards continues intact to-day. A substantial amount of this vision was formulated by Ms. Lucas and Ms. Post’s experi-ences as students and teachers. Today under their leadership, faculty members add, broaden and strengthen changes inherent within major dance disciplines. Interactions with parents and stu-dents are maintained by staff monthly meetings covering all aspects of each student’s
progress. The numerous decisions made are attained through faculty discussion and involvement.
We are unique for implementing a studio designed ballet, tap and jazz syllabi which produces continuity within our program for ages three and up. The Fitzsimmons Dance Factory has evolved from a one room studio to today’s four studio room “designed for dance” facility. With continued growth and success, our student body has grown from a few hundred to over seven hundred. Classes are offered six days weekly in addition to assorted short programs throughout the calendar year. Seasonal recital performances are presented at Rochester’s Auditorium Theater.
FDF alumni fill a number of faculty positions, are dance educators elsewhere, enrolled in dance at major universities or are otherwise successfully pursuing professional dance and/or theatrical careers.
