The Best Fathering Sites on the Web

By Ben Murphy, TheFatherLife.com

Back when THE FATHER LIFE.com launched two years ago there wasn't a whole lot of web content out there for fathers. As we enter 2009, we're happy to say that fathering content online is now growing by leaps and bounds! Today, if you Google 'dad blogs' you'll get thousands upon thousands of results! So, we wanted to spend some time spotlighting a few standout sites (besides TheFatherLife.com, of course) that we think are worth checking out on a regular basis. There isn't enough room here to list everyone, so we'll invariably miss some who should be mentioned, but this will give you a good taste of all the good content out there and a number sites that are a great starting point

SAVVY DADDY

Started by TonyChen in 2008, SavvyDaddy is one of the few flourishing Dad Communities on the web. Billed as a "…web community dedicated to fueling our passion to be great dads," they certainly hit the mark! With several thousand dads on the site there are sure to be topics you'll learn from and be interested in. The clean design and logical layout makes navigating the site very easy. You'll be sure to go back for more!

ODADEO

Tom Beardshaw and Stef Lewandowski launched Odadeo last summer and it is quickly gaining in popularity. An online community dedicated to the question: "How am I going to be a great father?" Odadeo provides a place for guys to set goals, post their progress, and compare notes with other dads. Although the community aspect is strong, the emphasis is more on web tools to help guys be better dads. Odadeo also boasts a well-designed layout for ease of use. On the Web: Odadeo.com

BUILDING CAMELOT

Tyler Wainright's blog BuildingCamelot consistently publishes great quality content on fathering and provides lots of useful tech/blogging tips. Always well-done, it's definitely worth a visit!

GEEK DAD

Geek Dad is operated by Wired Magazine and if you're a geek and a dad, you'll love it! A lot of the posts are more tech-related than anything else but they're always written from a dad's perspective and are always chalk full of cool, new things that you just have to know about! Discovering Dad is a newer addition to the dad blog world, with consistently solid content on topics you'll enjoy. Run by Jeremy Biser, the goal of Discovering Dad is "to build connections between dads and encourage fathers to get involved in their kid's lives." On the Web: DiscoveringDad.net

TWITTER

That's right! Today's hottest 'micro-blogging' platform is a tool that more and more dads are using to stay connected. Be sure to follow @twitterdads and @thefatherlife. Also, Google the term "twitter dads" and you'll find several web posts with lists of great dads to follow on Twitter. On the Web: Twitter.com

DADS.ALLTOP.COM
